Is Loneliness Genetic?
To plunge into the heart of this question, I consulted with Dr. Abraham Palmer, Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California San Diego. Dr. Palmer studies the relationship between genes and behavior and has specifically investigated a possible link between our DNA and how close we feel to others.
In our talk, we explore questions like:
Is one sex lonelier than the other?
Is it possible to take a pill to fight loneliness?
Do people, on average, grow more or less lonely as they age?
Should doctors be screening for loneliness?
